About us

Oshaug METALL

Oshaug Metall AS is a 4th generation foundry in central Molde that manufactures propeller components for ships in cast NiAl bronze. Our renowned quality components are characterized under our brand Copperstorm® and are preferred by the world's leading propeller manufacturers for the most demanding propeller installations. All propeller manufacturers in Scandinavia are our customers.  
The company is involved in various R&D programs both regionally and on a European basis for the development of modern production techniques, such as the model-free molding technique Patternless® where we have been a key player.

Today we  cast approximately 400 tons of NiAl-bronze per year. Products are mainly blades and hubs from 100 to 2500 kg.

Our foundry was established in 1927. In 2027 we are celebrating 100 years of experience with high quality castings.

Oshaug has implementing a mindset of continuous improvement for reducing our environmental footprint. Our carbon footprint is already below the industry average and we are further reducing it by establishing high level goals and evaluating our internal procedures to meet those goals.

OUR HISTORY

1912

Oshaug Metall's founder Jens Oshaug started in the foundry profession in De Forende Støperier (The United Foundries), Raumen foundry in Molde.

1927

Oshaug Metallstøperi is founded by Jens Oshaug at Skansen in Ålesund.

1932

The foundry moves to Julsundvegen in Molde.

1940

The foundry was damaged by German bombs on April 28, 1940 and was out of operation for long periods during the war.

1946

The foundry starts up again in a purchased German barracks moved from Geitapina.

1948

Harry Oshaug takes over the management of the company after Jens.

1960

The foundry begins the transition to casting elements in NiAl bronze.

1963

New foundry built in Grandevegen 30.

1981

Harry Oshaug's eldest son Stein Berg Oshaug joins the company as foundry manager.

1982

Electric induction heaters installed.

1990

New processing department for propeller blades established in Årøsetervegen.

2004

Work for the British Navy's destroyers and the Norwegian Armed Forces' frigates.

2020

The robot lab and Effee feeding

2021

Expansion of the machining department. New large 5-axis milling and turning machine is installed.
