Oshaug Metall

Oshaug Metall AS is a 4th generation foundry in central Molde that manufactures propeller components for ships in cast NiAl bronze. Our renowned quality components are characterized under our brand Copperstorm® and are preferred by the world's leading propeller manufacturers for the most demanding propeller installations. All propeller manufacturers in Scandinavia are our customers.  
The company is involved in various R&D programs both regionally and on a European basis for the development of modern production techniques, such as the model-free molding technique Patternless® where we have been a key player.

Kilos cast

Today we are casting approximately casting 300 tons of NiAl-bronze per year. Products are mainly blades and hubs from 100 to 2500 kg.

Since 1927

Proud traditions

Our foundry was etablished in 1927. In 2027 we are celebrating 100 years of experience with high quality castings.


High quality castings produced

Common the nominator between Oshaugs products is that they are tailor made exactly according to our customers specifications. We have delivered 50 000 components in strict accordence with our customers specifications and expecations.

ISO 14001

Working according to enviromental management systems

Oshaug is implementing a mindset of continous improvement for reducing our enviromental footprint. Our carbon footprint is already below the industry average and we are further reducing it by establishing high level goals and evaluating our internal procedures to meet those goals.


ISO 9001

Our quality system is certified by DNV according to ISO 9001:2015, contributing to continuous improvement in our production processes. We are certified as a producer in bronze alloys by ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV and GL, among others, and our products are certified by classification authorities appointed by the customer before delivery.

Green Innovation

Over the years, we have hosted several innovations, some even resulting in new companies. The latest example is Effee Induction who has supplied Oshaug with feeding and solidification control with their patented technology, which reduces energy consumption and hence carbon footprint.


The part of the energy mix being fossil is among the worlds lowest, thanks to the energy mix at Oshaug’s location. Energy-dense processes energy such as casting should preferably be done in countries where the source of the energy is as green as possible. Here, Oshaug is in the world top, according to a recent report from the Swedish casting foundation.

Oshaug Metall wants to be an important player for the local community by offering stable jobs and future investment in the area. The company will make an effort for young people in the region to get to know the company and the business community elsewhere in the region.

Oshaug Metall's founder Jens Oshaug started in the foundry profession in De Forende foundries, Raumen foundry in Molde.


Oshaug Metallstøperi is founded by Jens Oshaug in Skansen in Ålesund.


The foundry moves to Julsundvegen in Molde.


The foundry was damaged by German bombs on April 28, 1940 and was largely out of operation throughout the war.


The foundry starts up again in a purchased German barracks moved from Geitapina.


Harry Oshaug takes over the management of the company after Jens.


The foundry begins the transition to casting elements in NiAl bronze.


New foundry built in Grandevegen 30.


Harry Oshaug's eldest son Stein Berg Oshaug joins the company as foundry manager.


Electric induction heaters installed.


New processing department for propeller blades established in Årøsetervegen.


Work for the British Navy's destroyers and the Norwegian Armed Forces' frigates.


The robot lab and Effee feeding


Expansion of the machining department. New large 5-axis milling and turning machine is installed.
